Overview
These are instructions on how to reinstall the Google Authenticator app used for Multi-Factor Authentication codes when signing in with Single Sign-On at Mount Vernon. These instructions are helpful for situations where you either need to sign back into the Google Authenticator app or if you get a new phone and need to install the app again and get signed in.
Pre-requisites
- Your Mount Vernon Single Sign-On credentials
- Your personal smartphone with app-install permissions
Installing the Authenticator App
If you have not already installed the Google Authenticator App, then follow the instructions below. Otherwise, skip this section.
- On your personal smartphone, download the Google Authenticator App from the App Store or Play Store
Signing Back into the Authenticator App
- Open the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone
- Start signing in using either of the two following methods:
- Click the Sign In button at the bottom
- Click the Profile Dot at the top-right of the app, then click the Sign In button or the Add Another Account option
- Click the Sign In button at the bottom
- On the next screen, enter your Mount Vernon email and click Next
- Enter your Mount Vernon Single Sign-On password and click Next
- On the next screen, it will ask for 2-Step Verification. Scroll to the bottom and click Try Another Way
- In the "Choose how you want to sign in" list, select Get a verification code at (***) ***-**##
This will be your personal phone number that you setup when you enrolled in Multi-Factor Authentication.

A code will be texted to your personal phone number that you setup when enrolling in Multi-Factor Authentication. Check your messages and copy/memorize the code in the text message

Enter the code in the field and click Next
- You will now be logged back into the Google Authenticator app with your Mount Vernon account and your codes should now populate!
